Manning, Rommel & Thode Associates are excited to announce the addition of Dr. Bethany Rommel, MD to their highly trained team of eye physicians. Dr. Bethany Rommel is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and is looking forward to caring for patients in her hometown, Lancaster. She specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology, with an emphasis on cataract surgery, ocular surface disease and glaucoma management.
A graduate of Jefferson Medical College, Dr. Bethany Rommel received numerous Clinical High Honors and devoted her time to serving her community as a patient advocate. She was the clinical director of JeffHOPE, a student run health clinic that provides care for underserved patients. Dr. Rommel completed a medical internship at Abington Memorial Hospital and completed her residency program at the West Virginia University Eye Institute. In addition to her extensive training in Ophthalmology, Dr. Bethany Rommel is also well-versed in international studies and graduated with honors from the University of Toronto with a double major in Botany and Comparative Religion.

1. What is your role at Manning, Rommel & Thode Associates?
I am excited to be caring for patients as a comprehensive ophthalmologist. I provide comprehensive eye care including routine and diabetic exams, glaucoma management, dry eye management, and cataract surgery.
2. What are you looking forward to the most about working at Manning, Rommel & Thode Associates?
I am honored to be working with a team that is committed to their patients. In addition, I am proud to be serving the Lancaster, PA community where I grew up!
3. What do you do for fun outside of work?
I love hiking, kayaking, and gardening with my family. I also love baking!
4. What is one thing you recommend someone does/visits when they come to Lancaster?
Exploring any of the Lancaster Conservancy’s preserves is a must, as well as visiting downtown for tasty treats and vibrant shops!
5. What was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Ophthalmology is the most interesting career I’ve had, but I’ve also worked as a yoga instructor, researcher, gardener, cook, waitress and a shoe salesperson.
